One of the joys of owning your own home is that you can create and design anything that your heart desires from your own space. Specifically I enjoy my garden. This past year or so I’ve decided to really focus my efforts on creating more than just a vegetable patch. I wanted to create a space that was peaceful, enjoyable, and serene. A personal place, where I can go and reflect on the day ahead or even days past.
Installing a pathway from my home to my garden has allowed me to express creativity and freedom that I did not have before. I’ve really enjoyed enhancing this pathway by making a few small changes. Now mind you I do not have a very large yard. However I make due with what I have. One of the changes I made this year was to install a small garden bench surrounded by specifically placed garden lighting.
The garden lighting was installed not to detract or take the attention away from the “thinking” bench but rather to offer subtle hues and reflections to the area. When scoping out my garden lighting I personally decided choose solar lights for my garden. I tried to be as eco-friendly as I can. Solar lights are not known for their intense light output. In fact they’re more known for their muted and low light levels that they produce. This was the feel and vibe I was going for. So now my garden bench has been placed within 15 feet of my vegetable garden and approximately 30 feet from what will be next year, my flower garden. Next year I’d even like to consider adding solar walkway lights to my path and have them hug as close to the ground as possible while still giving out light.

When choosing your outdoor garden lighting, it really comes down to personal preference. Looking online I found so many styles and varieties that at times it was overwhelming. So the best thing I did was to set a budget up front of what I wanted to spend on my garden this year. Once I determined the total cost I then worked backwards to try and fit the decorative garden lighting, the mulch, and bench all within that budget.
It’s not much, but I have really enjoyed going out and just sitting on my garden bench in the evening hours and relaxing. There are no children, no husbands, no wives, no salesmen, no bosses,..well you get the picture. No one to interrupt me and my quiet reflection. It has been by far some of the best and most peaceful moments of my summer! I encourage everyone if possible to try and save up and map out a plan for their own garden and backyard paradise. It certainly is worth it!
Many people ask…What are the brightest solar lights? The easy answer is that the brightest lights are the ones that receive the most sunlight in order to charge their batteries. Solar lights run on internal rechargeable batteries that must receive as much direct sunlight as possible. If it’s your light fixtures are partially covered by trees and bushes or other objects shade covering the solar panels on your lights you will not have good results.
